2018 Carroll County Relay For Life Organizers Announce Unofficial Fundraising Totals

The 22nd Annual American Cancer Society (ACS) Carroll County Relay for Life took place yesterday (Friday), and the event’s organizers have announced their preliminary fundraising totals. After almost 10 hours of walking laps, celebrating survivors and banding together against cancer, the 2018 Relay’s unofficial fundraising total is $119,306. Relay Co-Chair, Erin Milligan, says she and her fellow co-chairs, Kevin Milligan and Andy and Kate Reiman, could not be happier with how things turned out.

Dr. Randal Hess, a radiation oncology specialist at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, spoke to attendees during the Relay about the incredible advances in cancer treatments being made almost every day and says Relay supporters are the driving force behind those developments.

Relay Specialist, Kim Durst, says the money raised is for far more than just funding research. ACS provides patient services such as nutrition support, travel assistance and much more. According to her, the Relay is only one part in the fight against cancer.

More than 600 people attended the Relay, including 80 cancer survivors. The fundraising total will likely increase as additional donations continue to be turned in the near future. The official total for the year will be announced later this fall.
