2018 Carroll County Relay For Life Now Underway

The 2018 Carroll County Relay for Life got underway today (Friday) with opening ceremonies at the Carroll Middle School at noon. Relay Co-Chairs, Kevin and Erin Milligan and Andy and Kate Reiman, made the decision earlier this week to move the event indoors after forecasts predicted the strong possibility of rain. Milligan says the weather turned out better than anticipated, and they are expecting great attendance.

While the venue has moved, the schedule of events remains the same. Theme laps started at 1 p.m. with the scavenger hunt slated to begin at 2 p.m. Salontief and A Head of the Times will be cutting ponytails from brave volunteers from 4 p.m. to 5:30., and the Survivors’ Supper is held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Luminaria lighting takes place at 9:30 p.m. followed by the closing ceremonies at 9:45 p.m. Relay Specialist, Kim Durst, says there is something at the Relay for the whole family and encourages everybody to participate.

She adds every dollar raised goes back to fund cancer research or touch the lives of those affected by it. Carroll County has consistently finished as one of the top fundraising counties per capita, and early numbers have already surpassed $90,000. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information on unofficial fundraising totals in an upcoming broadcast.
