Woman Taken Into Custody After Rollover Accident On Highway 30 Monday Night

A 20-year-old woman was taken into custody on numerous charges last night (Monday) after a single-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 30 west of Carroll. Carroll County Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, reports that at approximately 9:15 p.m., they responded to Highway 30 near Ivy Ave. to find a 1996 Nissan Altima in the south ditch. The driver, Aker Deng Machar of Denison, was driving eastbound on highway 30 when she lost control and rolled the vehicle into the ditch. After an initial investigation, Machar was charged with failure to have insurance, driving while suspended, possession of alcohol by a person under 21, operating a non-registered vehicle, failure to maintain control, providing false information to law enforcement, interference with official acts and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. Machar remains in custody in the Carroll County jail. The Carroll Police Department, Carroll Fire Department, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and the Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
