Winter Wonderland Comes To Glidden This Weekend

Glidden’s annual Winter Wonderland celebration is slated to take place this weekend with tons of fun activities planned for the whole family. The event gets started at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 across downtown. At the Glidden Public Library, Santa and Mrs. Claus are making an appearance with treats for kids, and Mrs. Claus will be reading a holiday story for the children. The library is hosting a cooking demo focused on family friendly holiday snacks at 10 a.m., and games of bingo will be played in the meeting room from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Downtown will be filled with the sounds of Christmas caroling while younger participants can enjoy crafts, face painting, games and a movie. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available at the Glidden Fire Station from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and people can grab a midday meal at the American Legion hosted by the Glidden-Ralston swim team. The city will be collecting warm clothing to be donated to Glidden-Ralston Elementary School and non-perishable food items for the Community of Concern Food Pantry during the event. The winners of the library’s gingerbread contest and the city’s outdoor lighting contest will be announced at the end of the celebration.
