Wall Lake Man’s Attempt To Flee Traffic Stop Ends With Felony Charges

Deputies from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a short pursuit Wednesday evening that ended with felony charges against the man who fled. At approximately 7:45 p.m., 53-year-old Jerry Jay Gregg, of Wall Lake, was stopped for a simple traffic violation near Lytton. During the stop, the deputy’s K9 partner alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. When asked to step out of his car, Gregg accelerated away from the stop, nearly striking the deputy and an assisting Sac City police officer. He fled for about two miles before stopping again and was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, a class D felony, and is being held in the Sac County Jail on a $5,000 bond. Additional charges are anticipated to be filed against Gregg.
