Volunteers Still Needed For Fourth Annual Youth Triathlon

Sarah Johnson is new to her role at the Carroll Rec Center, having joined them in March as the new Aquatics and Fitness Specialist, but she is diving in head first to help with a popular youth event coming up on May 27. The fourth annual Youth Triathlon will begin on that Saturday morning with six to eight year olds swimming 25 yards at 9 a.m., followed by a one mile bike ride and a quarter mile run. Nine to 11 year olds will start at 10 a.m. with a 25-yard swim, a mile-and-a-half bike ride and a half-mile run and the 12 to 14-year-old participants will start at 11 with a 50-yard swim, a two-mile bike ride and a one-mile run. Registrations are being accepted with a $10 fee that will get the racers a t-shirt, a medal, a race bag filled with sponsor donations, free admission to the aquatic center and post-race refreshments. Registration can be done in advance by using the form included with this story, or one hour prior to the age-group’s start time. The pool will be open approximately 30 minutes prior to start times. Johnson says that, like any great event, it can’t be done without volunteers and they are still looking for some people to help out. It is a fun way to get involved and volunteers will be done around noon. Johnson is happy to talk to anyone about volunteering, and she can be reached by using the contact methods detailed below.
