Two Stabbed In Spirit Lake. Suspect Facing Attempted Murder Charges

A Spirit Lake man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, a class B felony. At approximately 5 p.m. Thursday, the Spirit Lake Police Department responded to a call about a subject who had been stabbed. When they arrived at the residence in the 900 block of 22nd Street, they entered into a short foot pursuit of 29-year-old Nicholas Thompson. Two individuals were injured in the incident. One was transported to Lakes Regional Healthcare and later airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. The other injured party refused medical treatment. Their names are not being released at this time. Thompson has also been charged with going armed with intent, a class D felony, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. Lakes Regional Ambulance, Spirit Lake First Responders, The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Okoboji and Arnolds Park Police Departments, Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Dickinson County Attorney’s office assisted at the scene.
