The close of business on Friday was the deadline for Carroll residents to finalize their intentions to run in this year’s election for an At-Large City Council seat. Three individuals have presented the necessary paperwork to be included on the Aug. 1 ballot. They are current At-Large council member, LaVern Dirkx, Ronald “Woody” Beyer and Matthew Hodges. Dirkx was appointed to the seat in mid-December 2016 after Brandon Vonnahme announced a change in residence would make him ineligible to finish his term. The winner of the Aug. 1 election will finish out this unexpired term and serve through the end of 2019.
