Although the winning $758.7 million Powerball Lottery ticket was sold in Massachusetts, early results show several Iowans won substantial prizes from the drawing. Three tickets purchased in the state matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball for prizes of $50,000 each. Lottery officials say the jackpot surged even higher than estimates and Iowans contributed more than $4.7 million in ticket purchases for Wednesday’s drawing. Sales of more than $3 million were done on Wednesday alone. Over 90 percent of all players chose easy picks, with about 54 percent of all possible combinations purchased. The winning ticket was sold in Watertown, Mass. and will have a $480.5 million lump-sum payout option.
