Sunday’s Tori’s Angels Fundraiser Is The Largest In Non-Profit’s History

A fundraiser held for Tori’s Angels last weekend in Exira had hundreds of people show up for the largest benefit in the organization’s history. More than 500 supporters from Exira, Audubon, Harlan and the surrounding communities stopped in for a spaghetti dinner, bid on over 200 donated items and met several of the kids who have benefited from the non-profit’s work. One-hundred percent of money raised by the organization goes back to help children sponsored by the foundation. The final amount raised has not been released, but one of the event’s organizers, Barb Bahde, says, “People have been so supportive of our work. They just streamed in for hours and lined up to help these families and kids struggling with life-threatening medical conditions. It was absolutely incredible to see supporters turn out in numbers like this.” Tori’s Angel’s now serves 25 families across Iowa and pays medical expenses not covered by insurance until the child’s 19th birthday. This includes all travel expenses, prescriptions, co-pays and deductibles. Tori’s Angels is also teaming up with the Exira Lions Club for a raffle drawing on Dec. 1 to benefit the kids. First prize in the drawing is $1,000 in groceries at any Hy-Vee, second prize is an electric generator valued at $649 and third prize is a Hearts-themed quilt. Tickets can be purchased from any area Lions Club member for five dollars per ticket, $10 for three tickets or $20 for eight. Information on how to contribute to Tori’s Angels can be found included below.
