Storm Lake Police Net Three Outstanding Warrant Arrests In Two Separate Traffic Incidents

Two traffic incidents in Storm Lake netted three arrests on outstanding warrants, one from as far away as California. At approximately 8:18 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched on a report of a person sleeping in a vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the person, 26-year-old Jean Claude Hakuzimana of Storm Lake. Police learned that Hakuzimana was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Story County, on a failure to appear for operating while intoxicated charges. Hakuzimana was booked into the Buena Vista County jail and held without bond. The next incident began with an attempt to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at approximately 1:25 a.m. on the morning of Dec. 17. The police soon learned that the driver, 55-year-old Pao Xiong of Storm Lake, had a suspended driver’s license. That was not all however, Xiong was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Sacramento, Calif. for failure to appear on a dangerous drug charge. Xiong was arrested and booked in the Buena Vista County jail on a $5,000 bond pending extradition to California. During the stop, the officers were approached by Xiong’s relative, 33-year-old Webster Vang of Storm Lake. Police quickly learned that Vang was wanted on an outstanding Buena Vista County warrant for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a serious misdemeanor. Vang was arrested and booked into the jail on a $1,000 bond.
