The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a theft of firearms that were recovered at approximately 2:13 p.m. Saturday. The department received a call from Beth Joy at 202 West Adams Street, who reported she had found two firearms in the residence that did not belong there. Officers arrived and were told she believed a male staying in the home may be responsible. They spoke with the male subject, who admitted to having taken the firearms from a vehicle in Jefferson. Officers are working to determine who owns the guns, and future charges are pending.
