Slowpitch Softball Season Coming In Fast

The weather is getting warmer and people are itching to get outside and get active. One local tradition, slow pitch softball, is gearing up to be ready to roll with the start date on Friday, May 19th. Carroll County Softball Association District I Commissioner, Bob Fasbender, says the season is approaching fast, but they still need teams.

Fasbender said they are also inviting high school and college-age students to put together a team and participate. He adds they need those young teams to keep the 16-inch league going.

The B League will play double-headers on Tuesdays and the A League will play double-headers on Fridays. There is no admission charge for spectators and the concession stand will be open. In addition to players, Fasbender says sponsors are needed as well.

A new tournament is scheduled in Breda this year, and Templeton added one last year that they will participate in again during the 2017 season. A highlight for Fasbender will be the 37th Annual Bud Open.

Deadline for getting a team put together is May 10 or 11 at the latest. Dues will be payable and schedules will be distributed on Wednesday, May 17. For more information on forming a team, the Bud Open and all other tournaments, contact Fasbender through any of the contact points listed with this story on our website.
