Slick Road Conditions Blamed For Christmas Eve Accident In Jefferson

Slick road conditions are being blamed for a two-vehicle accident in Jefferson on Christmas Eve. At approximately 3:34 p.m., the Jefferson Police Department responded to the intersection of North Chestnut and East Washington Streets. According to authorities, a 2007 Toyota Camry, owned and operated by Vincent Kennedy of Jefferson, left a posted stop sign and pulled into the intersection. A 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Ryan Murphy, was approaching the intersection and could not stop due to the snow packed roadway. The Murphy Trailblazer collided with the Kennedy Camry in the intersection. The Camry was disabled by the accident and needed to be towed from the scene. The Murphy vehicle received an estimated $300 in damages and the Kennedy vehicle had about $1,000. No injuries were reported during the incident. Kennedy was cited for failure to yield to vehicle on right.
