Scranton Man Falls Asleep At Wheel, Hits Railroad Crossing Arm

A Scranton man complained of only minor injuries after falling asleep at the wheel and striking a railroad crossing arm last Friday. At approximately 2:37 p.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to 210th Street near Walnut Ave. west of Ralston. Upon their arrival, they found that 26-year-old Trevor Alan VanScoy was eastbound on 210th, when he says he fell asleep, awaking only to realize he had lost control of his 2008 Ford Fusion. The side of his vehicle struck the crossing arm, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage to the car and $2,500 to the crossing gate. The Union Pacific Railroad was notified immediately and sent a technician to repair the damages. VanScoy complained of possible minor injuries, he was not transported for treatment.
