In the 12 years since its inception, Santa Maria Vineyard and Winery owners, John and Rose Guinan, have seen their love for wine gain national acclaim. As their business has continued to evolve, the Guinans announced today (Tuesday) they are making a change, that John says, will put the focus back on their wine and wine-related events.
Guinan says the life-cycle of restaurants is about three to seven years, and most fail within the first six months. They have been fortunate to have run the restaurant for eight years. However, he adds they have “had their ear to the ground” for some time now, gauging what the community wants and needs.
In addition to expanding the catering side of the business, the Guinans had previously announced the introduction of live entertainment in the courtyard from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the summer season. They are excited about the events that have already been booked and are continuing to add more entertainment options in the future.
The restaurant is now closed and that space will reopen with the first night of live entertainment featuring Jessica McClintock on Thursday, June 1. The restaurant space—turned back to tasting room—will feature self-service of appetizers and light fare. Rose Guinan says, “From our wine and light fare, to our outdoor fireplace and Tuscan-themed courtyard, we are looking to provide another enjoyable, elevated experience for our customers.” Weddings and special events will remain a big part of Santa Maria’s offerings and the event center will continue to be available for hosting parties and meetings. And as the catering portion of the business continues to grow, they will also offer exclusive menus for special events. With the reopening on June 1, they will have new hours for the tasting room, Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and during Thursday’s live entertainment.
