Sac County Deputy Forced To Use Taser To Apprehend Marshalltown Man Wanted On Warrants

A Sac County Sheriff’s Deputy was forced to use his Taser to take a Marshalltown man into custody on Sunday evening. Sac County Sheriff, Ken McClure, reports the arrest occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Lake View. The deputy had stopped at the Sparky’s convenience story in Lake View and was informed that a suspicious male had come into the business two times, wanting to use the phone. The subject, 23-year-old Korey Austin Martz, fit the description of a man who had fled on foot after a traffic stop was performed by Lake View police. The deputy located Martz walking behind TCT Trucking in Lake View, and when he initiated contact, Martz fled again. A foot-chase ensued, with the deputy issuing several warnings for the suspect to stop. When Martz did not comply, the deputy deployed his Taser. Martz was taken into custody without further incident. He has two warrants for his arrest out of Marshall County; one for violation of parole and the other for voluntary absence from custody. Martz is now facing an additional charge of interference with official acts.
