Rumors Of Threat At Rockwell City Middle School Unfounded

The recent rumor that alleges a threat at the South Central Calhoun Middle School in Rockwell City was dispelled Thursday by the school’s administration. Superintendent, Jeff Kruse, says they have been working to communicate openly with the parents and guardians.

Notes were sent out on Thursday afternoon from the district, letting parents and guardians know the administration had been working diligently for almost a week to ensure that there was no truth to what was being alleged.

Kruse says they will notify parents immediately if there is any kind of issue, but they do encourage people to contact the school directly if they have questions or concerns. Tensions have run high at districts throughout the state after the Johnston Community School District reported their system had been hacked and disturbingly threatening messages were sent to parents and guardians of students. Similar, copy-cat style threats began occurring at schools statewide following that announcement, including a threatening note found in the bathroom at the IKM-Manning High School last Tuesday. That incident was also thoroughly investigated and found to be not credible. The student was identified and the information was also forwarded to the Manning Police Department for possible charges.
