Rockwell City And Sac County Law Enforcement Agencies Collecting Prescription Drugs This Weekend

Area law enforcement agencies are giving residents a chance to turn in expired, unused or unneeded medications this coming Saturday. Oct. 28 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and both the Rockwell City Police Department and Sac County Sheriff’s Office will have locations set up for these drugs to be turned in. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Rockwell City Police Department will be collecting the prescriptions in city hall. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office will have a drop box stationed at the Law Enforcement Center near the courthouse the same Saturday. Liquid medications or syringes cannot be accepted at part of this program. In the seven years since its inception, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has collected more than eight million pounds of prescription drugs which could have ended up being used improperly.
