Rep. King Says Infrastructure Investments From Private Companies Worked In The Past And Can Work Again

Fourth-District Congressman, Steve King (R-IA), is backing President Donald Trump’s proposed infrastructure bill and budget, saying it will reduce government spending in a way that does not hurt those that need it. Current plans outline an increase in private investment into public sectors. Area leaders have expressed doubts in the probability of encouraging private investments into the more rural areas of the state. King says making these types of partnerships has actually become easier over time and notes it has worked in the past.

He adds the upcoming Trump budget, while not detailed, does contain heavy cuts which are estimated at around 21 percent. King says these cuts will target wasteful spending and leave other areas untouched.

Some of the spending cuts to be addressed come from projects which King believes are unnecessary.

Rather than provide funding directly to a project, the government intends to create incentives to encourage companies to financially invest themselves to the success of regional development.
