Prison Term Handed Down To Accomplice In Coon Rapids Copper Theft

A Carroll County man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the theft of copper wire worth several thousand dollars from the City of Coon Rapids and the Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities (CRMU). Tylor Richard Meyers was sentenced Wednesday to two, five-year maximum prison terms on two counts of theft in the second degree, class D felonies. In April, Meyers aided an accomplice, 29-year-old Brandi Renee Perry, of Coon Rapids, in stealing the copper, valued at nearly $5,000. The pair sold the wire to Quandt’s Auto Salvage in Carroll and altered receipts to defraud the company. Meyers has also been ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution to Quandt’s, $3,200 to the CRMU, and $1,500 to the City of Coon Rapids.
