Passenger Treated For Minor Injuries In Two-Vehicle Accident Thursday

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 180th Street and 30th Street in North Carroll. Forty-year-old Katherine Ann McCartan of Carroll had stopped her 2004 Ford Taurus at the intersection behind another vehicle, facing westbound, waiting to make a turn. Her vehicle was rear ended by a 1997 Dodge Dakota driven by 40-year-old George Amos Richardson of Carroll. Richardson told the deputy that he was trying to turn on his windshield wipers and when he looked up he saw the McCartan vehicle but was not able to stop in time. Neither McCartan nor Richardson complained of injuries, but a passenger, 17-year-old Tyler Kenneth Loew of Carroll, was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by parents for treatment of possible minor injuries. There was an estimated $4,000 in damage to the McCartan vehicle and $3,000 to Richardson’s. Richardson was charged with failure to maintain control.
