Osceola Couple Grateful For Officers From Calhoun County Who Went Above And Beyond The Call Of Duty

A couple from Osceola penned a heartfelt thank you to members of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for the help they received from Sheriff Scott Anderson and one of his deputies last month. Gerry and Nancy Schnurr say they were traveling through Calhoun County to Sheldon for a funeral on July 9. They were only a couple of miles from Highway 4 on Highway 20 when their car broke down. A deputy transported the couple to a truck stop and made sure that Nancy, who is disabled, was made comfortable in some air conditioning, while he began tracking down someone to work on their vehicle. While the deputy could locate the parts, he could not find anyone available to do the repairs. That is where Sheriff Anderson stepped in, taking Gerry to Fort Dodge, not once, but twice for parts, then installing those parts himself. He did all of this on his free time and then refused to take any money for fuel. “I think this was above and beyond,” Gerry wrote. “The man gave up his day off to help total strangers. Nancy and I could not thank these two officers of the law enough.”
