Pottawattamie County officials have confirmed the death of a Riverside Community School District bus driver and one student in a bus fire early this morning (Tuesday). They are working to notify families, and are not releasing any further information at this time. They do say they are hoping to have more details available shortly after noon today. The fire was initially reported at about 7 a.m. near the community of Oakland. New reports from the Omaha World Herald are saying that there were approximately 20 people believed to have been on the bus when the fire started in the driveway of a rural residence. Fire departments from the Carson, Macedonia and Oakland Fire departments responded, but when they arrived, the blaze was so intense they were unable to board the vehicle.
