New Recognition Program Celebrates Area’s Workforce Warriors

The Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) and Western Iowa Advantage have developed a new recognition program, the Workforce Warrior Awards. With the area’s consistently low unemployment rate, businesses and organizations are tasked with coming up with creative ways to attract and retain quality employees. This new initiative is designed to recognize those who are bridging the gap between local educators and businesses to help find a way to fill the employee void in the area. The two-fold award will not only recognize businesses for implementing programs that reach out to area schools about local career opportunities, but educators will also be recognized for programs that solidify working relationships with area businesses and help educate students about the career paths available locally. Any business or school in Carroll, Crawford, Audubon, Greene, Guthrie, Sac, Ida or Adair Counties is eligible to apply for the Workforce Warrior Award. Applicants must have a pre-existing program already in place and the program must provide some type of benefit that would otherwise not exist. A small stipend will be awarded to recipients and they will be asked to speak at the Employer Educator Summit in Denison on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Applications are due by Friday, Sept. 8. Details on how to get more information on the program or to apply can be found below.
