MoveIt Celebrates Installation Of Solar Panel Field In Breda

Transportation Broker, MoveIt, hosted an open house Thursday evening to allow people to tour their new solar panel field in Breda. Planning for the nearly $100,000 endeavor started in February of this year, and the ground breaking took place at the beginning of August. It took only six weeks for the installation of 700 solar panels. MoveIt Public Relations Manager, Todd Partridge, says there were many benefits to going solar, but the main reason was cost.

In the course of a single year, the panels reduce energy emissions by the equivalent of almost 10,000 gallons of gasoline. Partridge notes that much of the upfront cost, almost 60 percent, is cancelled out by a number of financial incentives.

On a bright day, solar energy can provide 100 percent of the power to MoveIt’s headquarters. Partridge says the Breda City Council deserves a lot of credit for setting up an agreement which allows both the city and MoveIt to benefit from the panels.

Current Renewable Efficiencies, an engineering firm from West Des Moines, designed the system and Caterpillar Equipment produced the panels.
