A date for a public hearing has been set for early next month by the Lake City Council for the sale of a vacant property within the town. The land is located directly south of the Iowa Savings Bank building at 205 East Main Street and has been owned by the city for years. Dan Morrow, who owns Morrow’s Standard Service just east of the lot, and Dave Smith have expressed interest in the land to expand their operation to the west. Morrow has indicated discussions with the owners of Coyotes Café and Bar are currently underway. They intend to purchase and demolish the aging building between the shop and vacant lot to build additional service areas and a new structure. The public hearing for the sale is scheduled for Monday, June 5 at 6 p.m. at city hall.
