The 2016 year closed with a grouping of burglaries at several different locations in Greene County, with six reported in just two days at the end of December. Reports of thefts and burglaries continue to come in to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at a high rate in the first week of the year as well. On Monday, Jan. 2, deputies responded to a burglary in the 1000 block of Grant Street in Scranton, and to another report in the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 3 in the 900 block of Hager Street in Grand Junction. On Thursday, Jan. 5, they received notification of two burglaries, one in the 900 block of Orchard Ave. and one in the 1600 block of 160th Street, both northeast of Jefferson. One report came in from the same area on Friday, Jan. 6 of a burglary in the 1600 block of 150th Street. This week has started with the report of a theft and a burglary to a vehicle on Sunday, Jan. 8. Deputies are investigating a theft in the 800 block of 9th Street in Scranton and a vehicle burglary in the 700 block of Division Street in Grand Junction.
