Beginning on March 1, McFarland Clinic of Ames officially entered into a research partnership with PMG Research, Inc. of Winston-Salem, N.C. when PMG assumed operation of the McFarland clinical research department. The collaboration will allow McFarland Clinic patients and the communities of central Iowa to participate in clinical research studies in a broad range of specialties and therapeutic areas. The goal is that this integration will ultimately provide lower costs and faster time to market for potentially life-saving medications, vaccines and medical devices. McFarland CEO, Andrew Perry said, “Our partnership with PMG Research complements the service we provide as a multi-specialty clinic. Patients have the opportunity to benefit from therapies earlier than what might be available and with cost savings. In addition, clinical research advances educational opportunities for our physicians and encourages innovation.” PMG Research has hub sites located in Iowa, Illinois, North and South Carolina and Tennessee. McFarland Clinic is Iowa’s largest physician-owned specialty clinic with a total of 277 healthcare providers and 1,000 staff members across 12 Iowa locations. Additional Iowa communities are served through physician outreach clinics.
