Manning Moving City Offices And Bringing Together Utility Leadership

The City of Manning will be holding a special election to bring the different utilities under the jurisdiction of one board. City Manager, Dawn Rohe, says this will not create a change to the leadership that was elected to oversee each of the departments.

The special election will be held May 2, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church from noon to 8 p.m. The vote to bring the departments together is an organizational change, but the city also continues to work on renovations to the former Manning Regional Healthcare Center Clinic on Center Street to become home to City Hall and the offices for the separate municipalities.

Rohe says they are expecting to be able to move in to the new space in May or June. Their intention is to sell the existing building, but Rohe said it is currently home to the “brain center” for the fiber that runs the town’s internet network, and that will have to be moved before the building can be sold.
