Local Women Featured In Carroll Event Tonight Meant To Inspire All

P.E.O. Chapter NS members have planned a very special outing for tonight (Thursday), titled “Bee Inspired,” that is designed to be an inspirational event. CJ Niles says P.E.O. stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization and is dedicated to the advancement of women.

The program tonight will feature women, but everyone is invited to attend. The group held a similar event last year, but Tam Milligan brought forward a different idea for this year’s educational session.

The speakers are Dr. Jill Tiefenthaler and Mrs. Mary Baumhover, who will share their life stories. Baumhover is very active in the community and is a volunteer, recently having received a Character Counts in Iowa award. Dr. Jill Tiefenthaler is the daughter of Al and Marlene Tiefenthaler of Breda. She attended school at Kuemper, then went on to St. Mary’s College in South Bend, then Duke University. She is currently serving as the President of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo. Inspiration is really the goal of the evening and the organizers are hoping that everyone walks away inspired to do something better, to move on to a different step or just appreciate the things going on in their lives. Another part of the evening includes a vendor fair, and Marilyn Setzler says it also features the work of many local women.

The doors of Collison Hall at the St. Lawrence Church will open at 5 p.m. tonight (Thursday) for the appetizers and vendor fair. Speakers will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the program will last until about 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each, with all proceeds being used to help other women.
