Light Agenda For Carroll City Council, But Steering Committee To Review RFPs On Lease Options For Library And City Hall

There will be another light agenda on Monday night for the Carroll City Council, but it will include the acceptance of a tobacco settlement agreement and a proclamation for Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Sunday Oct. 8 through Oct. 14. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says they will also consider the transfer of easements to DMBA Properties, for the Biokinemetrics and Carroll Brewing Company locations, following a public hearing. There will also be a change order considered for the Carroll Trail improvements.

Following the conclusion of the council meeting, Pogge-Weaver says there will be a special meeting of the Library/City Hall steering committee that will also be open to the public.

Though it is difficult to quantify at this point, they believe they may realize some significant savings by renting a space and avoiding some of the inflationary and phasing costs of both projects.

Pogge-Weaver says he was pleased to see so many different options presented, and was surprised that there was one out-of-the-box idea that came from quite a distance away.

The committee and trustees are expected to put together a recommendation and bring it back to the council as early as Oct. 23 or Nov. 13. The council meeting will get underway at 5:15 p.m. in the second-floor chambers in the Farner Government Building. The public is encouraged to attend.
