Launch Kids Club Ensures Kids Have Fun Learning Over Summer Break

The second year of the Launch Kids Club is just around the corner and sign-ups for the educational program are underway. Twenty-one Audubon County children have already registered to be involved, beginning in June. Program Director, Jason Walter, explains what the program aims to provide.

Last summer, the program averaged between 20 and 40 students per day being involved in the activities and had costs associated with participation. The group has plans to visit a rock climbing wall in Des Moines and ride horses on a day trip. There will be no costs this year, and Walter expects this to bump attendance up. He wants to bus more students in from smaller communities, but there needs to be enough interest to make it feasible.

The program is funded by a $100,000 per year grant from the U.S. Department of Education and runs through the Audubon Community School District. Any family living in Audubon County can register to participate, but there is a maximum of 75 kids. The program is open to kindergarten through fourth grade. Registration can be found at the school’s website or by following the link included with this story below.
