Officials in Lake View are removing a handicapped parking space on Main Street after complaints parking was already too limited were brought to the city council. The parking space in question is on the southwest edge of downtown Lake View. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they were approached by business owners to see what could be done to increase parking.
Before making a decision on the space, the council ensured they were in compliance with laws regarding handicapped accessibility. Peterson says there is still an acceptable amount of specified parking.
The parking space will remain designated as handicapped only until the city repaints the road lines in town. That is anticipated to take place sometime in the next 30 days.
