The City of Lake View has taken its first major step in their plans to update the electric infrastructure near the community by selecting an engineering firm to manage the project. The city council voted to approve a $68,000 bid from DGR Engineering, of Sioux City, earlier this week. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says this effort will replace significant portions of the area’s lines.
DGR Engineering has a long history of working on electrical projects. The firm has replaced power lines across Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota and has build substations and power plants at those locations. Peterson says DGR will begin work on Lake View’s project almost immediately.
Construction is expected to last into the summer of 2018. DGR Engineering was selected as the low bid on the project. The only other company to submit a bid was Muscatine-based Stanley Consultants.
