Lake View Changes City Ordinances To Encourage Vendors

The Lake View City Council has started to change some of their ordinances to make it easier for travelling merchants to set up shop in town. Vendors have always been able to operate in town, but some vendors have suggested reducing the cost and restrictions would make it more likely for them to visit town. The first reading of the proposed changes was approved last week. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the biggest difference is in the cost and length for the required permits.

The ordinance limits the number of active vendors at a time to three to ensure there will be adequate space for those operating. Peterson says it will be easy for people to know when a new merchant is in town because they will all be located in the same place.

Two more readings will need to be completed before the change officially makes it into the city code. Lake View has already received permit requests from a shaved-ice truck and concession-dealing trailer.
