Lake View Agencies Make Budget Requests For FY 2017

A number of different agencies approached the Lake View City Council at their meeting Monday night to request funding for the 2017 fiscal year. The Lake View Library Board of Trustees requested a nearly two percent increase in funding, from $64,333 in FY2016 to $65,645 in FY2017. The city’s Housing Trust Fund received a $1,000 dollar grant from the state and is seeking for a matching amount from the city. The Lake View Community Club sought funding for two part-time positions to promote city activities according to City Administrator, Scott Peterson.

They recommended $9,000 be set aside to assist with that plan. The Park Board is preparing to deal with the possibility of Ash Borers making their way into Lake View’s parks and have also made requests to the council.

The Hometown Pride Committee is also looking for $35,000 in financial or in-kind contributions to the $120,000 splash pad project. Peterson says the city did not take any action on any of these requests and will hold more discussions at their budget meeting on Jan. 30. The final city budget will be determined at the formal budget hearing on Monday, March 6.
