Lake City’s Makes Progress On Recodification Of City Code

The Lake City City Council is nearing the end of the recodification and review of their ordinances. Councilmembers begin the process early last year and have been holding special meetings to go over the entirety of the city code. Lake City has been working with the Mid-Iowa Development Association (MIDAS) Council of Governments to help with the process. MIDAS consists of Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster and Wright Counties, as well as the local governments within those counties. MIDAS recently returned the second draft back to the council. Now, the city will need to review that draft before finally deciding they are ready to move forward. It will take several months after this decision is made for the recodification efforts to take effect. The council was unable to schedule their next recodification meeting due to several members being absent.
