A Kimballton man was arrested late last week after a traffic stop revealed he was intoxicated. At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, Shawn Leroy Schmidt was traveling on Littlefield Drive near Heron Ave., about four miles west of Exira, when he was stopped by an Audubon County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Schmidt has been charged with operating while intoxicated—second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, and two traffic violations, failure to yield half of roadway and no insurance. He was transported to the Audubon County jail and released after posting bond. He is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Monday, Aug. 7.
