James Stordahl To Give Presentation On The Struggles Of Mental Health Disorders At The Carroll Public Library

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Carroll Public Library is bringing a veteran, author and long-time United States Postal Service employee to share his family’s battle with mental health. James Stordahl is scheduled to speak on Thursday, May 26 beginning at 6 p.m. During his presentation titled, “My Family’s Struggle with Bipolar Disorder,” Stordahl will delve into how he and his family handled his 14-year-old daughter’s Bipolar Disorder diagnosis and the long road to her eventual independence. His talk covers living with bipolar disorder, coping with the disease, managing your work life and moving passed the stigma surrounding mental health. Mental health did not only affect his daughter. Stordahl was diagnosed with Bipolar-2, a less severe form of the disease, while navigating the difficulties of his daughter’s ailment. He chronicled his experience and has transformed it into four books about living and coping with Bipolar Disorder. This presentation is free and open to the public. After the program, Stordahl’s books will be available for purchase, and he has set time aside for a book signing.
