The title for Iowa’s Best Burger in 2017 has been awarded to the Smokin’ Hereford BBQ in Storm Lake. The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) and the Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) announced the winner yesterday (Monday). The two organization have joined for the last eight years to sponsor the Iowa’s Best Burger Contest. “The judges found the burgers at the Smokin’ Hereford were very juicy with outstanding flavor,” says Brooke German, Director of Marketing for the IBIC. The winning selection, the Hereford Burger, is eight ounces of hand-pattied Hereford beef dressed with a house seasoning, made to order and cooked over a flame grill. It is often served with a choice of a side and corn bread. This year, Iowans submitted more than 9,200 nominations from nearly 500 restaurants. If interested in giving the Hereford Burger a try, details about the restaurant can be found included below this story.
