Iowa Senator Mark Segebart Will Be On Hand To Answer Questions At Next Legislative Forum

Iowa sixth district Senator, Mark Segebart, says he missed his first session in five years after taking a tumble on the ice a couple of weeks ago. The injuries sustained in that fall also kept him from being able to attend the last Carroll County Legislative Forum on Saturday, Feb. 25. He has said, however, that he has some grave concerns about regional mental health funding for this year and has been working with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Ways and Means Committee in trying to develop a system to maintain funding for these services at the county level. The bill is “funnel-proof” according to Segebart because it deals with taxes. Segebart will be on hand to discuss this topic and many others at the upcoming Legislative Forum Saturday, March 11, beginning at 10 a.m. in conference room one at Manning Regional Healthcare Center. Brian Best, 12th District House Representative, will not be able to attend Saturday’s forum due to a scheduling conflict. All Carroll County residents are invited to take part in these forums and to ask questions of the legislators on issues that impact our area as well as our entire state.
