Iowa Air and National Guard Called To Assist With Inauguration Friday

The National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. has requested approximately 30 Soldiers and Airmen from the Iowa Army and Air National Guard to assist the federal, state and local agencies with the 58th Presidential Inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20. The Iowa National Guard has mobilized Airmen from the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City and the 132nd Wing in Des Moines as well as Soldiers and Airmen from the 71st Civil Support team in Des Moines. These guard members will assist with logistical support of military personnel and civil authorities including traffic control, crowd management and communications. More than 7,500 National Guard members from 44 states, three territories and the District of Columbia will come together to form the Joint Task Force-District of Columbia.
