The National Weather Service reports winds of 73 miles per hour and hail, up to golf-ball size reported in Manilla, during the severe storms that swept through the Carroll area on Tuesday night. Residents shared videos and photos, and some reported tornadoes on the ground. Brandy Rippey, who lives between Sac City and Lytton, says that just after 8:30 p.m. three family members raced into her home screaming that a tornado was in front of the house. The group had driven right into the tornado before they realized what was happening and had to battle to get through the storm to safety. The force of the tornadic winds, according to Rippey, tore open the trunk of the car. There have also been reports of extensive roof damage in that area and into Lytton.
