Greene County Supervisors Will Have To Draw From A Hat To Break A Tie For Paton City Council Seat

The Greene County community of Paton relied heavily on write-ins for their mayor position as they had no candidates file paperwork. Steve Burrell ended up winning that election with 21 write-ins. Jake Bohnet and Dave Crandell tied with 11 write-in votes and Brian Tasler received one. What was unexpected, was the number of write-ins they received for two open city council seats. Diane Hanlon and Jeff Headley were on the ballot, with Hanlon receiving 24 votes and Headley 19, but there were five more write-ins. Matt Fox received the same amount of votes as Headley with 19, followed by Chris Sprecher with 12, Dave Fields and Dave Crandell with two votes each and Mitchell Tourte with one. In this situation, the Greene County Auditor’s Office has said the winner for the tied seat will be determined by drawing a name from a hat at the supervisor’s canvassing of the election on Monday.
