Greene County Sheriff’s Office Responds To Two Accidents Monday Night

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to two car accidents on Monday night. The first was a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 7:57 p.m. at the intersection of 220th Street and U Ave. at Grand Junction. Forty-one-year-old Melyda Weltha of Grand Junction was westbound on Highway 30 in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 34-year-old Stephen Mok of Des Moines was stopped at the U Ave. stop sign, but then pulled out in front of the Weltha car. No injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $3,500 damage to the Cavalier and $1,500 to the Silverado. At approximately 11:42 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a car/deer accident on Quaker Ave., near 265th Street, southeast of Jefferson. A 2015 Ford F150, driven by 29-year-old Justin Thompson of Grand Junction, was eastbound on Quaker Ave. when he struck the deer. There was an estimated $1,500 in damage to the pickup truck.
