Gov. Reynolds Announces Steve Lukan As Director Of The Iowa Department Of Veterans Affairs

Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Monday that she has appointed Steve Lukan as Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs executive director. Lukan, who is replacing retiring director, Jodi Tymeson, has been serving in the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy. He is also a former state representative in House District 32 and assisted in guiding the House Republican Caucus as assistant leader. During his time in the House, he was instrumental in the creation of the House Veterans Affairs Committee and enacting legislation to help disabled veterans through the establishment of the Veterans Trust Fund. A former Petty Officer 2nd Class with the U.S. Navy, Luken says he is humbled and honored to serve the brave men and women of the armed forces. “They have given excellence in their service, and excellence in fulfilling the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs will be our goal,” he adds. Luken’s appointment is effective immediately. Dale Woolery will serve as interim director of the Office of Drug Control Policy.
