Glidden-Ralston Wildcats Celebrating Back To School With Barbecue Before Classes

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats are heading back to class next week. Superintendent, Kreg Lensch, says the district has been preparing for the 2017-18 year since class was dismissed in May. The district will be welcoming four new teachers to its staff this year.

Lensch notes those hires are mostly a result of staff retirement. Work continued on the efforts over the break to renovate the building which started three years ago with new drywall, paint and carpet in much of the building. The district has also made it easier to navigate with new signs for hallways, classrooms and exits. Lensch says the three main office spaces in the building have all been consolidated into one central office.

Lensch has heard from former students that it feels like walking into a new building.

On Monday, Aug. 21, an open house will be available for students beginning at 5 p.m. At the same time, the Glidden-Ralston Booster Club will be hosting a Back-to-School Barbeque in the front lawn of the school. Athletes from the Wildcats’ fall sports teams will be there for a meet-the-team event. Lensch, who is also the Glidden-Ralston head football coach, says he looks forward to the start of classes every summer, even after 29 years.

Students begin the year with a full day of classes on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
