Glidden Extends Contract With PeopleService For Three More Years

The City of Glidden will be extended their contract with the company that manages their water systems for at least another three years. The city continues to make steps towards getting their wastewater project underway, but a new system is not expected to be up until mid-2020. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says they will have at least three more years of water management to consider, so they decided to keep their contractor, PeopleService, Inc., of Omaha.

The company employs one individual to manage both the city’s water and wastewater facilities. This person is not a city employee, but the job is dependent on the city having water utilities to maintain.

Glidden pays PeopleService about $10,000 per month to keep a qualified operator on hand to watch over their systems. When the city finishes its lagoon in 2020, they will not require as highly trained workers. The city will reexamine their water maintenance contracts when the new contract expires on June 30, 2020.
