Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids is adding new bicycles to their rental fleet following a generous donation from a shop in Ames. Representatives from Skunk River Cycles delivered five bicycles and 10 helmets earlier the week and are now available for use by the public. These bikes are of the mountain variety and are intended for off-road, rugged use. With the gift, Whiterock Conservancy’s rental options now include the bikes, a John Deere Gator UTV, kayaks and canoes. Access to the nearly 40 miles of trails found inside the 5,500 acre public recreation and resource protection area is $2 for hiking and running trails, $5 for bike trails and $10 for horse trails. Rentals fees are $10 for mountain bikes, $50 per hour for the UTV and kayak and canoe rentals, which include life vests, paddles and a shuttle ride, are $45 for the first vessel and $15 for each additional craft.
